“Bumi Rupa: A Stopover from West to East”
“Don’t die before you’ve been to Banda Neira.”
Sutan Syahrir’s famous words feel like a gentle whisper, reminding us that far in the east lies a small island with crystal-clear blue waters, tranquil nature, and a profound history. Banda Neira a hidden paradise that once stood at the center of the world.
From that spirit, our concept was born. Bumi Rupa’s booth is envisioned as a meeting point between Western and Eastern Indonesia. It draws inspiration from the Wallace Line, the imaginary boundary that divides Indonesia into two distinct worlds. The western side carries the warmth and grandeur of the Sriwijaya Kingdom through dominant terracotta tones, while the eastern side highlights the beauty of Banda Neira its captivating sea, peaceful islands, and deep-rooted stories.
But beyond its design, Bumi Rupa seeks to bring a sense of serenity through a small café space. Like Banda Neira, quiet in the middle of the ocean, this booth invites visitors to pause for a moment, enjoy a thoughtful coffee pairing, and rest amid the bustle of the exhibition.
It is a place to stop a gentle reminder to slow down, breathe, and savor the moment. Because even in the busiest of worlds, we still need somewhere to simply be.
Bumi Rupa is a collaboration between Singres Tiles, DMDIO, and HMP Architects. Together, we created a space that not only celebrates aesthetics but also honors stories of land, water, and the elements that connect us as a nation.
This project is supported by Sinpro as the executing contractor; Colours of Chroma with Liquid Metal, Premium Liquid Wallpaper, and Microcement; Tujuan Bumi for the natural landscaping; SMEG for the kitchen showcase; MANA Level Up for the coffee pairing experience; and NAGO, adding warm, comforting aromas to the space.
Bumi Rupa is an invitation: to pause, unwind, sip good coffee, and celebrate the beauty of Indonesia, from Sriwijaya to Banda Neira.
